De'Longhi coffee machine platforms

Manufacturer's home coffee machines are classified primarily by platforms (they are sometimes called chassis). By the way, they always appear in the names of the models themselves. Previously, De'Longhi offered three coffee machine platforms - ESAM, ECAM and ETAM, but in 2019 new one debuted - the premium EPAM.

The first three chassis are very close in terms of filling. All of them use CRF brewing unit, which holds up to 14 grams of coffee and, most often, supports pre-wetting of the tablet. The pump in them is also, as a rule, 15 bar (19-horsepower for top solutions), and they almost always use steel coffee grinder with conical millstones (the exception is PrimaDonna Soul with flat plates) and large gradation of grinding levels. If you have an automatic cappuccino maker, there is built-in jug (no outlet pipes) that can hold up to 1 liter of milk.

The three platforms differ primarily in the layout of the main filling, controls and appearance of the coffee machines, accordingly the following conclusions can be drawn:

  • ESAM - the largest devices in size, often more affordable, considered more reliable;
  • ECAM - average, one might say the golden mean. This is the company's most numerous chassis in terms of the number of devices;
  • ETAM are the most compact coffee machines (width 19.5 cm), but the hardware is no different from ECAM. The difference in size is usually achieved through changes in layout, as well as smaller capacity of the grain bin, water tank, and waste container.
The ETAM platform is the same internally as the ECAM, but externally the coffee machines are smaller.

The brand's newest platform, EPAM, has number of know-how. It is positioned as the flagship and most advanced. It uses 19 bar pump, an updated milk system with movable poker handle (inside which there is pair of nozzles that allow you to dispense two coffee and milk drinks at once) and slightly modified brewing unit (essentially the same as on other chassis, but with different drive and mounting socket). But the main change is two independent flat burr coffee grinders. So, if there are connoisseurs of different beans (flavors) in family (or office), then one coffee machine can satisfy them. Plus, here you can create blends, mix different types of coffee (for example, Robusta and Arabica).

Current series of coffee machines

The classification of De'Longhi coffee machines is not limited to different platforms. Also, the entire branded range of home coffee machines includes several series (7 main and over 10, taking into account subcategories within). We list the current lines as the functionality and cost of devices increases:

  • Magnifica and Magnifica Evo;
  • Authentica;
  • Dinamica and Dinamica Plus;
  • Perfecta;
  • Eletta;
  • PrimaDonna (with different subcategories);
  • Maestosa.

Next, we will look at the models and their distinctive features within each line.

Magnifica is relatively affordable, very numerous and popular line.

Magnifica series

This is the entry-level and most numerous branded line of the manufacturer. Most models are based on the ECAM platform, but there are also solutions on the ESAM chassis.

Junior De'Longhi coffee machine - Magnifica S ECAM 22.110. She can make espresso and lungo, has manual cappuccino maker and coffee grinder with 13 grinding degree adjustments, allowing you to vary the strength by the number of grams (from 6 to 14) of coffee per serving.

  • black - ECAM 22.110.B;
  • silver - ECAM 22.110.SB.

In some markets there are also other variations of the basic Magnifica S. They are de facto no different from 22.110 except for the color of the case (or the material of the panarello attachment). About their differences below:

The basic coffee machines also include the Magnifica ESAM 3200.S. It comes on larger platform, brews one or two shots of espresso at time, and is complemented by manual cappuccino maker. There is also related coffee machine in black - ESAM 3000.B. In addition, several other models are offered on the same chassis, which differ only in design and controls. This includes, for example, ESAM 04.110.B and two devices of the 4000 series:

  • black - ESAM 4000.B;
  • silver - ESAM 4200.S.

Next in the hierarchy of the Magnifica series are several S Smart cars on the ECAM chassis. They have ring on the manual cappuccino maker to shut off the air supply, which allows you to simply heat the milk rather than whip up the foam. One additional recipe has also been added:

  • or Long Black, which is available in models ECAM 250.33.TB and ECAM 250.23.SB. In fact, these coffee machines differ only in color - respectively, the first is dark gray, and the second is silver.
  • or Doppio+, that is, double espresso - in ECAM 250.31.SB (has silver body).

Also, the De'Longhi Magnifica Start ECAM 220.20 coffee machine can boast almost similar “skills” to Smart models. It has touch control panel and four recipes, including Long Black. But its older version, Start ECAM 220.30, can make 5 drinks in one click - the mentioned long and Doppio+.

Both Magnifica Start models are available in different color variations. There are "twenties"

  • gray-black - ECAM 220.22.GB.

And the “thirties” with five recipes “on board”:

Older Magnifica models usually have the prefix Cappuccino in their name. Their feature is the presence of an automatic cappuccino maker, which allows you to prepare drink of the same name at the touch of button. The ECAM 23.460 model differs from the ECAM 22.360 in the presence of illuminated cups, slightly modified milk system (in fact, there is only different lid shape), as well as controls and design.

The S version of the Cappuccino ECAM 22.360.B is currently on sale only in black. But ECAM 23.460 has two variations:

  • silver - ECAM 23.460.S;
  • black - ECAM 23.460.B.

There is also Magnifica S Cappuccino Smart ECAM 23.260B, which differs from version 23.460 in the updated control panel and the presence of the Long Black recipe.

Also slightly outdated in design, but still in demand, milk machine in the entry-level price segment is the Magnifica Cappuccino version on larger platform - the ESAM 3500.S model.

Magnifica Evo sub-series

Separately, within the Magnifica line, it is worth highlighting devices whose names include the Evo prefix. These are very young coffee machines from De'Longhi with fairly wide range of models in terms of prices and functionality.

The junior representatives of Magnifica Evo are the ECAM 290.21.B and ECAM 290.22.B coffee machines. Both received manual cappuccino maker, touch control panel, and can prepare espresso and lungo. The differences are that the 21st variation supports the Long program, and the 22nd – Doppio+ double espresso.

Next in terms of increase in functionality is the ECAM 290.31.SB coffee machine (made in silver color). She has two programs described above at once. And one of the modifications - ECAM 292.33.SB - brews the correct Americano instead of doppio (water is added to the espresso).

The older model with manual cappuccino maker is considered to be the ECAM 290.42.TB model. Here, in addition to slightly different color of the front panel - dark gray - there is one more recipe - long, doppio and the correct Americano.

De'Longhi Magnifica Evo ECAM 290.51.B is the entry-level model in the line with an automatic cappuccino maker. It supports three automatic programs (except for hot water and its own recipe) - espresso, latte macchiato and coffee (Americano). There is also related version on sale - ECAM 292.52.GB, which has different milk program - cappuccino.

One step higher in the hierarchy is ECAM 290.61. There are already two programs of dairy drinks - cappuccino and latte. Moreover, both are not entirely canonical, because first milk (foam) is served into the cup, and then espresso.

Color variations of this coffee machine:

  • black - ECAM 290.61.B;
  • sebristine - ECAM 290.61.SB;
  • brown - ECAM 293.61.BW (this model also features the My Latte program, which uses all the milk added to the jug).

One of the older Magnifica Evo models is ECAM 290.81.TB. It has dark gray front surface and 3 milk drinks at the touch of button - cappuccino, latte macchiato and My Latte. Related version in black is called ECAM 292.81.B.

Authentica series

Characteristic feature of this line of coffee machines is that they are based on the ETAM chassis. Consequently, these devices are among the most compact of all coffee machines on the market - the body width is 19.5 cm. The models are excellent for small kitchens and other cramped conditions.

Autentica is line of the brand's most compact coffee machines.

The initial representatives of the series are the 500th versions. They are equipped with manual cappuccino maker and provide modest range of black coffee programs, including espresso, Long and Doppio+. Color variations of basic Autentica:

  • silver - ETAM 29.510.SB ;
  • black - ETAM 29.510.B;
  • white - ETAM 29.513.W (by default prepares ristretto, not espresso).

The De'Longhi Autentica Plus ETAM 29.620 coffee machine is slightly different from the 500 models. She acquired screen, as well as an adjustment ring on the manual cappuccino maker. The latter can, in addition to foam, serve simply heated milk.

The older version of Autentica is considered to be Cappuccino ETAM 29.660.SB, made in silver case. Its main feature is the presence of an automatic cappuccino maker and separate program for making cappuccino.

Dinamica is mid-class line, but sometimes even with the makings of cooler solutions.

Dinamica series

Here it is advisable to divide the coffee machines of the line into two subgroups - simply Dinamica and Dinamica Plus. The former are considered one of the most balanced De'Longhi coffee machines in terms of price and quality. But Dinamica Plus are devices, if not of an advanced class, then certainly of the upper part of the middle category.

The initial representative of the line is Dinamica ECAM 350.15.B. It is considered direct successor to the ECAM 23.210, has black casing, has manual cappuccino maker, and can make rich Doppio+ espresso. Another distinctive feature is the control panel with LED indicators.

The ECAM 350.35 model is positioned slightly higher. It already has display and My Menu function, which makes it possible to save custom settings for suggested recipes. It is also worth noting that there is an adjustment ring on the cappuccino maker, so you can simply heat the milk without frothing it.

ECAM 350.35 color options:

  • white - ECAM 350.35.W;
  • stainless steel - ECAM 350.35.SB.

The first coffee machine in the series with an automatic cappuccino maker and LatteCrema jug is ECAM 350.50. She can prepare 4 drinks in one click, including latte and cappuccino. Its controls are symbolic, like those of the ECAM 350.15.

Variants of the device in different colors:

  • black - ECAM 350.50.B;
  • silver - ECAM 350.50.SB.

Next in the Dinamica hierarchy is the ECAM 350.55 coffee machine. There is an automatic milk system and 10 cooking recipes, however, most of them cannot be selected with one touch: you need to go to the Drink Menu section.

Note that in addition to the black version ECAM 350.55.B, related model ECAM 354.55.SB is also available in stainless steel color.

The senior coffee machine in the Dinamica line without the Plus prefix is ECAM 350.75. This is device with an automatic cappuccino maker and 12 programs. By the way, in addition to the Drink Menu button, there are shortcut keys for Long Black and hot milk.

Moving on to Dinamica Plus, where differences include 3.5-inch touchscreen display that makes interaction easier, and more powerful 19 bar pump. There are three main solutions here:

1. ECAM 370.70. The model has an automatic cappuccino maker, many programs, namely 12 recipes, among which there are, for example, preparing drink in coffee pot and the correct (canonical) cappuccino, where milk foam is served in the espresso. Color variations:

  • black - ECAM 370.70.B;
  • silver - ECAM 370.70.SB.

2. ECAM 370.85.SB. Coffee machine in silver case, which has the same 12 programs as the younger ECAM 370.70, and the main feature is support for control from smartphone. In the application, among other things, you can easily configure the desired drink parameters (this is little more convenient and faster than using the touch panel).

3. ECAM 370.95(and in some markets ECAM 372.95). This is the older Dinamica Plus model which received milk jug with two walls. It increases thermal insulation properties. The coffee machine is compatible with mobile application, and also supports 3 user profiles for saving your recipes/settings. Available for sale in one of two colors:

  • gray - ECAM 370.95.T;
  • silver - ECAM 370.95.S.

Perfecta series

Perfecta is line of small, but reliable and functional coffee machines.

This line is built on the ESAM platform, which makes its representatives not the most compact. The width of the coffee machine body is 28 cm, which means they are primarily suitable for spacious kitchens or offices. In functional terms, the models have much in common with the Dinamica series, including 15 bar pump, the presence of an automatic cappuccino maker, and touch controls. Perfecta offers three coffee machines:

1. ESAM 420.40.B. The younger model is in black with four buttons for quick preparation of drinks - espresso, lungo (coffee), latte macchiato and cappuccino. The total set of recipes includes 12, including Doppio+ and latte.

2. ESAM 420.80.TB. Coffee machine in stainless steel color. It is notable for the presence of coffee pot included in the delivery set, it already has 6 buttons for brewing drink in one click, and there are 14 of them “on board” in total, including Coffee Pot, Flat White, Cappuccino+ (based on doppio).

3. ESAM 460.75.MB. The silver model is the senior representative of the series (has the DeLuxe prefix in the name). There is different control panel with more informative color display, but the main feature is the presence of both an automatic cappuccino maker and Panarello attachment for manual whipping. There is also recipe for the right cappuccino (called Cappuccino Mix), 3 user profiles and total of 14 programs. The coffee machine is also equipped with coffee pot.

The old-timer of the series has not yet completely fallen out of sales - De'Longhi Perfecta Cappuccino ESAM 5556.B, which is similar in functionality to ESAM 420.40.B. The model is notable for its display and touch panel, including 4 buttons for dairy drinks - cappuccino, latte and latte macchiato, hot milk.

Eletta is series of elite, that is, advanced in terms of functionality, coffee machines.

Eletta series

The Eletta line includes De'Longhi coffee machines of both intermediate and advanced levels. All models boast an automatic cappuccino maker, rich set of recipes and other features.

Note that on sale there are both coffee machines from series of earlier years of production (with the name Eletta Cappuccino) and new versions - Eletta Explore. Let's start with the "veterans".

Junior model - ECAM 44.660.B. This is mid-budget device, which is made in black case, equipped with milk system with jug and large grain hopper (400 grams). The total set of recipes is average - 7 drinks, not counting milk and water.

White ECAM 45.760 is positioned above. It stands out for its more elegant body finish with metal elements. It has not only an auto-cappuccino maker, but also tube for manual foaming, as well as active cup heating (with separate heating element). The coffee machine has large number of milk recipes - seven.

The eldest among the “old-timers” of the Eletta line is ECAM 46.860. The coffee machine is equipped with two cappuccino makers, has touch panel with 6 buttons for quickly preparing drinks (and total of 12 recipes), as well as monochrome display.

As part of the Eletta Explore series, debuting in 2022 - 2023, devices are offered that are “capable” of preparing cold coffee drinks. They are equipped with special LatteCrema Cool milk jug (in addition to the regular milk jug):

1. ECAM 450.55. Initial modification of the line. It also has second milk container, supports cold brew recipes, has 4 user profiles and the 2GO program for brewing coffee in thermal mug. Main color variations of the model:

2. ECAM 450.65. An important distinguishing feature is the Wi-Fi module for remote control from mobile application. Cold Extraction Technology is also implemented here, which expands the possibilities of preparing drinks. The coffee machine is available in different body colors:

Of particular note is the coffee machine on the ESAM platform, which debuted back in 2012 as De'Longhi's flagship, but remains relevant today. This is PrimaDonna Exclusive ESAM 6900.M. It uses 2 thermoblocks, one heats water for coffee, and the other prepares steam for frothing milk, which helps speed up the brewing cycle. It also offers color display and touch buttons around it. It is also worth highlighting the additional manual cappuccino maker for enthusiasts, separate jug and special program for preparing hot chocolate.

PrimaDonna S Evo ECAM 510.55.M also stands out somewhat from the subcategories that are relevant today. There is also removable manual cappuccino maker, in addition to the automatic one, 14 recipes, including the correct cappuccino, doppio and long. The model supports control from smartphone, active heating and illumination of cups.

1. ECAM 550.65(previously produced under the article number ECAM 550.55). The coffee machine is made in plastic case, equipped with 3.5-inch screen (non-touch) and can be controlled from the Coffee Link application. Coffee lovers have 12 programs at their disposal, including 8 coffee and milk drinks, plus 3 user profiles (in addition to the guest profile). Available for sale in the following colors:

2. ECAM 550.85.MS(ECAM 550.75.MS). This is the older version of PrimaDonna Class, which includes steel elements in the design. Compared to its predecessor, it has milk jug with two walls, an additional manual cappuccino maker, and 6 user profiles. Among the programs it is worth highlighting the correct cappuccino and Americano (coffee, and then milk/water), as well as tea. Made in stainless steel colors.

Above Class in the PrimaDonna line is the Soul subcategory. These coffee machines use flat rather than conical burrs, 19 bar pump, 4.3-inch touch screen and support for remote control. But the main feature is the Bean Adapt grinding degree adjustment technology. It includes not only fully electronic control of the millstones, including through the application, but also interactive tips for beginners. PrimaDonna Elite models, which are very close to the flagship.

1. The youngest in the elite line is the ECAM 650.55.MS coffee machine in stainless steel color. There is fairly large display with touch buttons around the perimeter, 15 cooking programs and 6 user profiles are offered, and there is double-walled milk jug.

2. ECAM 650.75.MS(in new revisions / in some markets - ECAM 656.75.MS). The main changes compared to its predecessor are 4.3-inch touch screen, an additional jug with whisk - MixCarafe: used for making hot chocolate. This cycle is available at the touch of button.

3. ECAM 650.85.MS. The flagship of the PrimaDonna series and one of the top De'Longhi coffee machines in general. Maestosa series

Maestosa is De'Longhi's flagship line.

This line includes flagship coffee machines based on De'Longhi's top EPAM platform. Now it is represented by the EPAM 960.75.GLM model, which is made in silver color. It features premium design with high-quality finishing materials, including glass front panel. There are two independent coffee grinders with flat burrs, special jug for cold drinks and cocoa (hot chocolate). The cappuccino maker supports programmable adjustment of the foam height and can prepare 2 cappuccinos or lattes at once. In total, there are 21 programs, there is an option to add water without removing the tank. And 5-inch touch display complements remote control.
