If in the Red Devil series, the Taiwanese brand used video accelerators above the average level and strives to maximize power, then when designing Red Dragon cards, PowerColor engineers try to simplify and reduce everything, without losing quality at the same time. Usually, there is nothing superfluous in the box with a graphics card, there is practically no backlighting of the case, black and red colours dominate in appearance (according to all the precepts of “design for gamers”), and a red dragon looks at the owner from the package.

The design of the cooling system is limited to two fans. Three-section COs are used only with hot video cards of the RX 6700 level and are much less common. The backplate is only where it is really needed. The quality of Cooling system work in most cases begs for a solid five - the “red dragons” that we had on tests in 100% load mode made noise slightly above average. If there is no load, then the graphics card goes into passive mode and does not make any sounds at all. Apparently, the experience of developing Cooling system for video cards of the Red Devil series, whose cooling was not praised only by the lazy, had an effect.

Since PowerColor is AMD's official partner, the core of the Red Dragon series is made up of mid-range and near-top video accelerators exclusively from Radeon - Radeon RX 570 instead of GTX 1050 Ti or RX 6700 instead of GeForce 2060 SUPER. After the total shortage in the graphics card market, which happened at the beginning of 2021, the Red Dragon series assortment looks unusually colorful, and on the same counter, the modest RX 550, released many years ago, peacefully coexists with the recent monster RX 6800, which has 16 GB of video memory on board. In general, representatives of this series should be considered for purchase if you have chosen a video accelerator from Radeon and want to save a little on backlighting and other little-useful things.
