Despite the introduction of the DDR5 standard, which entered an active stage of development in 2023, DDR3 memory is still in some demand and does not disappear from sales. Samsung and Micron continue to supply manufacturers. Thus, the Ares line from G.Skill is one of the rare series by the standards of 2024, which offers a fairly wide selection of DDR3 modules.

Even though computers and smartphones have long switched to DDR4, the DDR3 format still has its advantages. The most obvious is compatibility with older PCs and laptops. If the user does not plan a complete upgrade of the system, Ares modules can be useful if you need to expand the existing memory stock or replace a failed stick. The second scenario is the use of server infrastructure designed for DDR3. As a result, most manufacturers are forced to support the outdated format, since supplies for replacement and repair will be needed for many years.

The core of the Ares series consists of classic desktop DIMM strips with a capacity of 4 and 8 GB. For convenience, they can be sold in the format of single or paired modules operating in single-channel or dual-channel mode. The choice of operating frequencies is also quite wide and is represented by modules with 1600, 2133 and 2400 MHz. In the latter case, we are talking about throughput almost at the level of inexpensive DDR4 modules. The slower strips operate at a voltage of 1.5 V, the top ones at 1.65 V. All Ares modules are protected by massive and multi-colored aluminium radiators.
