The photo version of the fast “fifty dollars” from the South Korean brand Samyang is compatible with all major bayonet mounts – from popular Nikon and Canon DSLRs to trendy mirrorless cameras with Micro 4/3 format matrices.
Optical design
The optical scheme of the lens consists of 9 elements in 6 groups. At the same time, one of the lenses in the optical design is aspherical, as indicated by the AS symbols in the model marking, and another element is coated with a multi-layer UMC anti-reflection coating, designed to reduce light losses when it passes through the air gap and glass. The lens aperture has 8 petals, which allows you to get rounded outlines of objects in the blur zone, or, in other words, beautiful bokeh.
Manual focus
Due to the lack of an autofocus system on board, not every amateur photographer will have the lens at the right time. But for those who still dare to focus manually, the Samyang 50mm f/1.4 AS UMC provides all the necessary conditions for an accurate hit on the target: the focus distance scale is marked in detail on the lens body, and the smooth movement of the focus ring is implemented in the most flawless way. sharp picture
The lens produces excellent sharpness in the centre of the frame, starting from the widest aperture. However vignetting at f / 1.4 is very pronounced. As expected , the most razor-sharpness is achieved when the aperture is covered to f / 4-5.6.
