The first thing that comes to mind when I start writing a review is a smart book. And really very nimble, quickly walks through sections, flips through, and so on. I had two books before and this one is the fastest. Also, the book is very light, which is extremely convenient when reading lying down, especially in half-bent legs, with a hand on the chest. Plus the size is very correct, fits easily into the hand. I note that there is no backlight here, and this sometimes annoys me, but since I read mostly at home, under the light of a sconce, the lack of backlight suits me. There is 8 GB of internal memory, a little more than 7 GB is available, and this is enough for thousands of books. That is, in fact, it doesn’t matter how much memory there is, because I never keep more than 100 books on it, there is no point. I read on FB2, mostly. I also want to note a very high-quality screen, the contrast is pleasant, the text is very readable, better than on old books + it is really black and white, there are no yellowish tints. Micro usb is a little annoying, as almost all devices with usb are at home. At first, there was not enough opportunity to listen to audio books, but with a smartphone, this is a useless book. As for the battery, I will say this - I charge extremely rarely. Enough books for 15-20. I read 2-5 books a month. I know that there is a dictionary, but I never used it) Fast. Very high quality screen. Comfortably lies in the hand. Light weight. Nice white color, not beige. Perhaps they are not there, maybe there is not enough lighting. When reading exciting works of world literature, an electronic reader often has to be held with one hand for several hours in a row. And here a simple rule applies: the less the device weighs, the better. Perhaps the lightest in the class is the "reader" PocketBook 606 weighing only 145 g.
Quality screen eInk Carta
The model will serve as a tasty choice in the low-cost segment of readers without any frills. In its compact case with dimensions of 161x108x8 mm, it was possible to place a recessed 6-inch screen on an eInk Carta matrix substrate. The eyes perceive such a display as good paper and do not get tired when reading books for a long time. The resolution of the screen is 1024x758 pixels, the fonts on it are displayed without characteristic pixel "ladders" and notches.
Button control
The display of the PocketBook 606 is non-touch, and the management of the book is tied to a five-way joystick and sub-screen page turning buttons. For the sake of accessibility to the widest possible audience, the model is devoid of a screen backlight system. And other "luxury" like a built-in browser on board the reader is not expected. An analogue of the model with a backlit screen is presented on store shelves under the name PocketBook 616.
Omnivorous nature
The electronic reader works with 17 formats of books and text documents, including common PDF, EPUB, FB2, DOC, TXT, etc. Memory device "brought" 8 GB. A few thousand more books can easily fit on a microSD flash drive up to 32 GB inclusive, for which there is a separate slot on the bottom of the “reader” case. Finally, due to the lack of a built-in backlight, a single charge of an 800 mAh battery is enough for about 8,000 page turns. To brighten up the pastime on a long journey, casual toys in the memory of the reader will help: sudoku and a snake.
